Alanis Morissette Working On Her First Book

Alanis Morissette has graced us for years with her songwriting and acting, and now the songstress is publishing her first book. As of now, it remains untitled.

Alanis describes her literature in an interview with Spinner, “It’s really turned out to be very philosophical, non-precious–photographs, travelouge, essays. A little ADD… It’s all over the place, but there’s a linear pathway throughout it all. It’s kind of my fantasy book, the kind I wish I could read all the time from other people.”

The “Kerouac inspired” collection had a deadline for this spring. There is no word yet of when the book will be released. In the meantime, Alanis has contributed the song “I Remain” for the soundtrack to the upcoming film, “Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.” She also participated in Women On The Edge Of Evolution, “a group of 21 of the worlds leading female spiritual luminaries, thinkers, artists, and agents of change,” to address the role of women in changing the future of our world.

Singer and occasional actor Alanis Morissette is guest starring on Showtime’s Weeds over the summer, on seven episodes starting July 6th.

Morissettte plays a doctor who cares for Nancy Botwin, played by Mary Louise- Parker. Not only is she Nancy’s doctor, but she also gets involved in the family drama.

The singer has also guest starred on Nip/Tuck on FX.
